Are you looking to fit a new kitchen? If so, then you’re probably wondering how long does it take to install cabinets? Typically, installation of new cabinets takes between two and three days. But this can be shorter or slightly longer, depending on the size of your kitchen.
But there is a little more to it than that – more we need to consider to ensure proper, quality installation.
So, this blog post will discuss more on how long it takes to install cabinets, alongside purchasing, planning, and more.
How long does it take to get cabinets?
Before you can install cabinets (or have a professional install these for you), you need to acquire the cabinets first.
Now, this is actually a little more tricky than it sounds. Just bear with us a second…
A standard wait time for new kitchen cabinets is four weeks, but in some cases, this can be upwards of three months.
If you’re ordering Bespoke cabinets, then delivery is likely going to take longer. The same applies to certain cabinetry brands – ensure to do your research before placing an order to avoid disappointment.
At Designer Cabinets, the typical lead time is four to six weeks for delivery and construction. But if you’re just ordering cabinets and wish to install these yourself, expect delivery in as little as three to ten days.
How long does it take to install new kitchen cabinets?
Most of our Designer Cabinets range come fully assembled and ready for installation – you’ll typically only need to install accessory items.
Despite this, if you’re undergoing a proper installation with a team of experts (including the removal of old cabinets), then anywhere from two to three days is the standard turnaround time.
This can be slightly shorter for smaller kitchens (or if the old cabinets have already been removed) or extended if you’re installing a whole new kitchen, island countertops, and the whole works.
Of course, you can remove and install the cabinets yourself, but if you don’t know how, then you risk damaging the cabinets and installing these incorrectly. Furthermore, it’ll take a lot more time, and the quality of installation may not be as good.
So, it’s just something to keep in mind – you can do it yourself, but we’d recommend a professional fitting if possible.
Is it hard to install kitchen cabinets?
Installing new kitchen cabinets can seem daunting at first, but once you get going, it’s not as difficult as it looks.
But, when doing it yourself, you run the risk of damaging the cabinets by installing them incorrectly.
Ensure to keep your cabinets level and use the right tools for the best installation.
However, if you’re not at all confident, then we’d recommend working with a professional – you’re guaranteed a high-quality job, level cabinets (that’s always a win…), and a whole lot less stress (phew!).

Can you replace cabinets without removing countertop?
When purchasing new cabinets, you don’t necessarily need new countertops.
You also don’t need to remove the countertop to fit the new counters (so long as you do it correctly).
This will save you time, effort, and a lot of heavy lifting.
But beware: your cabinets must be the same height to fit correctly, otherwise, you’ll need to start from scratch.
How long does it take to install a new countertop?
Installing a new countertop doesn’t take quite as long as installing new kitchen cabinets.
You can expect the installation to take between two and three hours. But for larger kitchens, it may turn into a full day of work (more like eight hours).
